Cost Benefit Analysis

Scope of Training

The aim of this training programme is to provide participants with a systematic way of thinking about the measurement of benefits and costs. By the end of this programme, participants will be able to conduct their own cost-benefit analysis on any issue of sufficient interest. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the key CBA steps and to help develop a sense of its applicability to real-world analyses.

Course Objectives & Benefits

By the end of the training programme, participants should be able to: 

• Determine when a cost-benefit analysis is required and beneficial 
• Compile a complete analysis, given relevant modelling assumptions or approximations 
• Identify limitations in modelling assumptions, data or political concerns that may compromise the validity of the study 
• Communicate the results of the cost-benefit analysis to stakeholders facilitating political or administrative processes.
