Module Description

This course is all about leadership in the business world. It places a strong emphasis on practical applications and skill development.

Throughout the course, you will learn various leadership theories and concepts that will enhance your ability to apply them in real-life situations.

The goal is to improve your critical thinking skills and help you develop effective leadership abilities.

By the end of the course, you should have a solid understanding of leadership theory and be able to apply it in a practical and meaningful way.

Entry Requirements

Candidates who apply for this course must possess a pass in English Language* and Mathematics at MQF Level 3 (‘O’ Level or equivalent).

  • Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.

How you’ll be assessed

Assessment is carried out via two mandatory components:

  • Formative Assessment
  • Summative Assessment

The programme includes different forms of assessment which allow for and promote students’ critical engagement. The formative and summative assessment tasks may include an in-class assignment and/or a home-based written assignment using diverse assessment tools which may take the form of online and in-class discussions, examinations, case studies, reports, proposals, essays, and presentations, etc., as applicable to the diverse modules.

Learning Outcomes

Competences:

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:

  • Gain operational knowledge on different Leadership theories.
  • Develop Leadership skills including motivation, assertiveness, time and stress management and providing constructive criticism.

Knowledge:

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have been exposed to the following:

  • Introduction to Leadership.
  • Introduction to different models of leadership.
  • Model and Styles of Leadership.
  • Leading Teams.
  • The leader as a role model.
  • Practical session.

Skills:

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

  • Identify own leadership style and preference.
  • Plan the resources required for personal and professional development.
  • Discuss links between leadership style and leadership effectiveness and efficiency.

Module-Specific Digital Skills and Competences:

The learner will be able to:

  • Navigate through the online learning platform to benefit from assignments, discussion boards, literature, tutorials etc.
